The tech industry has came a long way over the past few decades and many consumers would now find their lives very empty without some of the fantastic devices that we now have access to. However a recent study has shown that women are actually edging ahead in terms of acquiring high-tech sales positions within the sector in Taiwan.
A poll released last month by 104 Job Bank revealed that women were more likely to be found in high profile sales positions for the industry with them accounting for over 50% of sales staff in the information technology market and within technology firms. Indeed, many experts have admitted that this is likely to increase over time and the gap is expected to get much wider as well.
However men still dominate heavily within the semiconductor tech industry with some 90% of the engineering posts falling into male hands. Although when you look at the stats for the sales figures in that industry the picture is altogether different and the gap far narrower and closer together. When looking solely at the sales jobs it reads as only 55% men and 45% women which suggests that, in sales at least, the gap is getting smaller. Why are they edging ahead in senior technology sales though?
Regis Chen, marketing director for Job Bank, argued that women often have a better eye for detail and attention and have a better grasp of foreign languages which ultimately give them the edge when it comes to high profile sales positions within the technology industry in Taiwan.
