Apple gadgets definitely stole the show at the 2010 Stuff Gadget Awards. Stuff magazine cares about their readers, and their readers really care about gadgets. So after the votes were tallied up, the Apple iPhone4 was named Phone of the Year, but the iPad was the real big winner. There were a number of new electronics that came out this year, from the Kindle to the Android. Okay, it’s true that Apple usually wins almost everything that it gets nominated for, but the Best Gadget category was really broad. And considering the fact that the iPad was met with plenty of criticism when it was first unveiled, this award was actually a bit unexpected.
A panel made up of industry insiders and readers looked back at all the gadgets released in 2010 before making a decision. The United Kingdom magazine named a few other winners in categories such the Eco Gadget Gong and Mobile App of the Year. The iPad was one of the most sought after electronics released this year, inspiring a number of hacks, apps and discussions. Revolutionizing how people communicate and connect to the web, the iPad went in the exact opposite of it’s predecessors – it went big. For all those who complained about the gadget’s size, there were a number of excited customers whose prayers for a solution to eye strain were answered. Part tablet, but mostly akin to a mini laptop, tech savvy people on the go can at least appreciate the ingenious design. Even if you don’t own an iPad, you can still give Apple kudos on winning the Best Gadget of the Year award.
